According to the latest issue of Motorsport Aktuell - Volvo is on the move to introduce the new S40 to touring car racing. The homologation of the S40 was just recently completed. The model is expected to make its debut in the STCC first, replacing the current S60 that originally was built by Prodrive. This is belived to be the first step torwards an eventual WTCC programme for Volvo. Stay tuned for further news on this subject.

Overigens zet ik nog wel vraagtekens bij bovenstaande project. Deelname aan het STCC daar twijfel ik niet aan, echter deelname aan het uiterst competative WTCC dat moet ik nog zien. Het laatste tourwagenproject van de Zweden in het ETCC was niet echt succesvol vanwege een gebrek aan budget.
